Justice is a distinguished archaeologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University. This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest. There are currently few professional references to this type. This is considered a provisional type.
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a large lanceolate side notch point with an elliptical cross section. The blade is excurvate, curving in at the tip and having parallel sides. Some examples have a serrated blade. The shoulders may vary from horizontal to having an upward angle. Some examples have shallow notches. The stem is expanding and is relatively short relative to the width of the stem. The base is convex base, and may have a bulbous appearance. This point commonly has an oblique or collateral flaking pattern, but may vary to random.
