Justice is a distinguished archaeologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University.  This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest.  There are currently few professional references to this type, but that may be due to the limited distribution and number of examples.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small to medium triangular to lanceolate side notch point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate, generally curving in at the tip and back in at the shoulders.  Smaller examples may have a triangular shape with a straight blade.  The blade may be serrated on this type.  Shallow parallel notches enter low on the blade forming weak shoulders that are at an upward angle.  Examples with deeper notches may have horizontal shoulders.  The stem is expanding with a straight to convex base.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length - 21 to 64 mm,  Stem Length - 8 to 12 mm,  Blade Width - 19 to 33 mm,  Neck Width - 15 to 30 mm,  Basal Width - 18 to 24 mm,  Thickness - 6 to 10 mm.

This point is primarily found in the central Sierra Nevada range of California and Nevada.  These points may be found into the central California valley's with decreased frequency.
