Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small triangular side notch point with an elliptical cross
section. The blade is straight and serrated. The serrations are commonly symmetrically placed, but asymmetrical in size and may appear to be nipple like protrusions from the blade more than
serrations. Shallow parallel notches enter low on the blade forming a weak shoulder that is at an upward angle and an expanding stem. The base is concave and commonly has a bifurcated appearance.
This point has a random flaking pattern.

Distribution:
Distribution Comments:
The full distributions is not known. This type was named for examples from the Coconino Plateau and Sitgreaves Mountain of central to northeastern Arizona and northwestern New Mexico.
Justice (2002) clusters this with the similar Snaketown points that are associated with the Hohokam culture of southeastern Arizona and into Mexico and New Mexico, so distribution may extend into these regions.

Additional Comments:
Justice (2002) places this as a morphological correlate to the Snaketown cluster. However, he places the Snaketown Side Notch into the Pueblo Side Notch cluster due to the technological similarities of the
basal construction. This point was placed into the Pueblo Side Notch cluster the the same reasons. The blade does have the serrations commonly seen with the Snaketown type, but construction of the
serrations of the two types differs.
