Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a small triangular side notch point with a flattened to elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily slightly excurvate with a "stubby" or "squatty" appearance.  The blade has a single notch above the shoulders on both blades.  Parallel U-shaped notches enter the blade forming horizontal shoulders and an expanded stem.  The base is deeply concaved forming a U shape.  This point has a random flaking pattern.    

Size Measurement: 
Total Length - 20 to 32 mm,  Stem Length - 6 to 9 mm,  Neck Width - 8 to 12 mm,  Max Width - 12 to 20 mm,  Thickness - 3 to 5 mm

Distribution Comments:
This point is primarily found in eastern Arizona, as far as Roosevelt Lake and into western New Mexico decreasing frequency.  This point is found into Tsegi Canyon of northern Arizona and as far south as Gleeson Arizona (Justice, 2002).

Justice is a distinguished archaeologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University.  This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest.  There are currently few professional references to this type, but that may be due to the limited distribution and number of examples.  This is considered a provisional type.
