Perino was a well-respected self-taught archaeologist who was the founder of the Illinois State Archaeological Society. This point was identified during Arkansas Survey 60 years ago, This point was discussed by Perino, but not in any other professional literature. This is considered a collector type.
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small (1 to 1.5 inches) triangular point with a flattened cross section. The blade long and narrow and primarily straight to slightly excurvate with small protrusions on one or blades. When bi-lateral protrusion are present, they are at different distances from the tip and not symmetrical. The base is concave with sharp basal corners. The flaking pattern is random.

SNOW LAKE (Triangular True Arrowhead) – This point type was described by Greg Perino for examples recovered from sites near the community of Snow Lake in Desha County, Arkansas. This point type was discovered during the Arkansas Survey nearly 60 years ago. They are small (1” to 1.50”) triangular shaped, true arrowheads that are long and narrow with one or more protrusions knapped into the side of one or both blade edges and at different distances from tips or bottoms of the blades. Bases are concave and basal corners are sharp. Distribution includes southern Arkansas, northern Louisiana, northeastern Texas, southeastern Oklahoma and they were in use during the Mississippian period.
