Suhm was an eminent Texas anthropologist who, among many distinguished positions, served as Director of Texas Archaeological Research Laboratory.  Krieger was a renowned anthropologist who spent most of his career in Texas cataloging projectile points and pottery in Texas before moving on to the University of Washington.  Jelks was a distinguished anthropologist and helped organize the newly formed Department of Anthropology at Illinois State University where he was a Professor.  His work in Texas furthered the understanding of Texas archeology and was a founding force for the Society of Historical Archeology.  This type was named in a professional publication and subsequent book and has many professional references.  This is a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small triangular point with a flattened to elliptical cross section.  The blade may vary from straight to incurvate.  The base has a deep V shaped concave.  This point is made using fine pressure flaking leaving a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 16 to 35 mm (average 23 mm),  Width - 10 to 29 mm (average 21 mm), Thickness - 4 to 7 mm (average 5 mm) (MacNeish 1967)

Points with a straight to slightly concave base with a smooth face could be considered Fresno points.

Davis (1995) feels that this type may represent a continuum with the McGloin point.

This point is primarily found in the lower Rio Grande Valley and into the coastal region.  Point is reported into the Rio Grande valley and into northern Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas with decreased frequency.
