Suhm was an eminent Texas anthropologist who, among many distinguished positions, served as Director of Texas Archaeological Research Laboratory.  Krieger was a renowned anthropologist who spent most of his career in Texas cataloging projectile points and pottery in Texas before moving on to the University of Washington.  Jelks was a distinguished anthropologist and helped organize the newly formed Department of Anthropology at Illinois State University where he was a Professor.  His work in Texas furthered the understanding of Texas archeology and was a founding force for the Society of Historical Archeology.  This type was named in a professional publication and subsequent book and has many professional references.  This is a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small thin slender triangular point with a flattened cross section.  The blade is primarily straight and forms an isosceles triangle (half as wide as the height).  The blade may be finely serrated.  The base may range from slightly concaved to deeply concave or V shaped, and may have basal thinning.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 19 to 55 mm,  Width - 7 to 14 mm,  Basal Concavity - 3 to 7 mm (Suhm and Krieger, 1954)

These points are similar to Talco points, except the base of these points have a deeper concavity and the edges of this point are straight while the Talco have recurvate edges. (Suhm and Krieger, 1954).

This point is most commonly found in the Red River region of northeastern Texas, northeastern Louisiana, southwestern Arkansas, and southeastern Oklahoma in areas associated with the Caddoan culture.

Suhm et al. (1954) notes that this is a common type in the Belcher and Texarkana foci extending to the easternmost components of the Titus Focus and all of the Fulton Aspect.
