Suhm was an eminent Texas anthropologist who, among many distinguished positions, served as Director of Texas Archaeological Research Laboratory.  Krieger was a renowned anthropologist who spent most of his career in Texas cataloging projectile points and pottery in Texas before moving on to the University of Washington.  Jelks was a distinguished anthropologist and helped organize the newly formed Department of Anthropology at Illinois State University where he was a Professor.  His work in Texas furthered the understanding of Texas archeology and was a founding force for the Society of Historical Archeology.  This type was named in a professional publication and subsequent book and has many professional references.  This is a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small to medium triangular point with a flattened to a thin elliptical cross section.  The blade is slender and a blade that is most commonly recurvate, but may range from straight to excurvate.  Many examples are finely serrated.  The tip of the point commonly angles in which may distinguishes this point from the Maud.  On examples with a recurvate blade, the sides may become almost parallel with the blade flaring out at the base.  Many examples are finely serrated.  The base is concave.  This point is commonly finely made and has a random flaking pattern.

This point is primarily found in the upper drainage of the Sabine and Sulphur rivers and into the Red River Valley of northeastern Texas and into southwestern Arkansas, southeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Louisiana in areas associated with Caddo cultural sites.
