Additional Comments:

These points are commonly called Mission Point because they are commonly found around missions and in mission Indian middens in the Coahuila and southern Texas regions. However, they are not limited to areas surrounding the missions in those regions. Many examples have been made from glass (Turner and Hester, 1985).

This point is similar to Fresno points with the difference being that the Fresno point has a more triangular appearance with a straight to mildly concave base, whereas the Guerrero point varies from triangular to lanceolate in appearance with a basal concavity that is usually deeper.

Gurrero Negro points found in west central Baja California are similar in appearance and also found in association with Spanish era relics (Ritter, 1998).

Distribution Comments:

This point is primarily found  in southern Texas and into Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas Mexico.  Commonly found around Spanish Missions.  Guerrero Negro points found in Baja California and into Sonora Mexico are similar point and may represent the same type.  This type may be found throughout Mexico especially around Spanish Missions.
