Bassett Pointed Stem
Cluster:
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small (typically 1 inch) triangular contracting stem point with a flattened cross section.  The blade may vary from excurvate to straight.  The blade is commonly finely serrated and many examples have a tip that is flaked in forming a needle appearance.  The shoulders are barbed and often extend down past the base of the point.  The stem is short and contracting with a pointed base.  On examples with long shoulder barbs, the stem may appear to be a small protrusion in the middle of a deep concave base.  This point usually has a high quality of workmanship and has a random flaking pattern.
