Cambron is a distinguished avocational archaeologist that did extensive work in Alabama and the Tennessee River valley.  This point was named in a personally published book.  This point has been referred to in numerous professional publications and is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large triangular point with a flattened cross section  The blade may vary from straight to slightly excurvate.  The base is concave.  This point may have a single or multiple flutes on each face.  Basal and lateral grinding is present on most points extending the bottom 1/3 of the point.  This point commonly has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length - 67 to 117 mm (89 mm average), Blade Width - 37 mm average,  Thickness - 7 mm average, Basal Concavity - 9 mm average,  Flute - 26 to 70 mm

This point is similar to the Beaver Lake point except it is shorter and broader with more pronounced ears. The relationship of this point is unclear. Some believer that this is the point between the earlier Clovis point and the later Dalton point. Others believe that this evolved from the Simpson point and into the Beaver Lake point. Still other believe that this evolved from the Cumberland point and into the Beaver Lake point.

This point is primarily found in the Tennessee River valley and into the Ohio River valley and mid Mississippi River valley.  May be found into the Red River Valley of Oklahoma and Texas and into the Piedmont and coastal regions of the Carolina's.  Rarely these points have been found into southern Georgia and northern Florida.
