Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin medium lanceolate point with a flattened to elliptical cross section. The blade is excurvate, curving in at the tip and back in at the base. The widest part of the blade are the top one third to one half of the blade. The base is concave which forms small pointed basal ears that point downward. These points do not have a "fishtail" appearance. There are two to three flutes on each face that extend 1/2 to 3/4 of the face of the point. The flute expands towards the base and the base is finished with smaller basal thinning flakes. Basal and lateral grinding is light. Flaking pattern tend to have a collateral flaking patter without a common termination point to the flakes (midline). Re-sharpened points commonly have a parallel flaking pattern and may have a "chevron" pattern towards the base.
Size Measurements:
Length - 40 to 65 mm (mean 54 mm), Width - 22 to 35 mm (mean 30.8 mm), Thickness - 3 to 5 mm (mean 4.6 mm), Basal Width - 13 to 23 mm (mean 17.9 mm) Basal Concavity - .5 to 4 mm (mean 2.1 mm), Thickness / width ratio - 5 to 8 / 1
