Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a small to medium expanding stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade ranges from excurvate to straight.  Parallels notches are shallow and form a shoulder, when present, that are weak to absent and at an upward angle.  The stem is expanding and generally broad.  The base may be straight to slightly convex base and lack basal grinding.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 35 to 85 mm,  Stem Length - 9 to 15 mm,  Blade Width - 18 to 28 mm,  Neck Width - 13 to 21 mm,  Stem Width - 18 to 25 mm (***Based on small sample size***)

This point is primarily found in the American Bottoms and the Illinois River Valley, the Ohio River Valley, and into the surrounding regions.

This type is similar to the Steuben type except this type generally has weak or absent shoulders while the Steuben type has prominent shoulders.  This type has also been included with the Ansell type with some literature discussing Ansell / Mund projectile points.

Finney is an archaeologist for a private archaeological research firm in Minnesota.  He studied at Illinois State under Fortier.  Lacampange is an archaeologist who attended Illinois state and studies under Fortier.  This type was named in a professional p[publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type,
