Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small triangular side notch point with a flattened cross section. The blade is primarily straight to very slightly excurvate. Parallel U shaped notches enter the side of the preform forming a horizontal shoulder and expanded stem. The stem is as wide as the shoulders and is commonly asymmetrical. The base ranges from straight to slightly concave. This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:
Length - 10 to 46 mm (20 mm average), Blade Width - 7 to 22 mm (12.5 mm average), Base Width - .3 to 19 mm ( 12.6 average), Neck Width - .7 to 14 mm (8.7 mm average), Thickness - 1.4 to 7.4 mm (3.3 average) (Peck and Ives, 2001).

These points are indistinguishable from Prairie Side Notch points. It has been argued by Peck (2001) that these points are diagnostic of the Old Woman's Phase.
