Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a medium to large (2 to 4 inches) triangular stemmed point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is slightly excurvate.  The shoulders range from horizontal to having a slight upward angel.  The stem is long with parallel sides.

ZACATECAS – was named by archaeologist Eric W. Ritter for five examples he studied that were recovered from sites in the Sierra Zacatecas, west of Bahia Concepcion.  The specimens he illustrated are medium to large sized (2” to 4”) with straight sides and broad, straight stems with straight to slightly convex bases.  Reference: Ritter, Eric W. 1979.
