Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a medium triangular expanding stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily excurvate.  The notches enter the blade from the corners with the corners removed giving the point shoulders that may vary from horizontal to slightly angled upwards and an expanding stem.  The base is convex.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

This point is most commonly associated with the upper Ohio River Basin of southwestern Pennsylvania and  into West Virginia and eastern Ohio (Dragoo distribution = red)  Kinnsey (1972) used this name for types found in the Delaware River Basin of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware (Kinnsey Distribution = Yellow).  No reports of this type found in the Susquehanna River Basin in-between these two distributions.

 Dragoo is a distinguished anthropologist who publish many books and served as the Curator of the Carnegie Museum.  This point was named in a professional publication, but has limited professional references.  Kinnsey has used this name for points found in the Delaware Basin and this name has limited usage in that region.  This is considered a valid, but seldom used type.
