Richie was a prominent anthropologist who served as the state archaeologist for the State of New York, the State Museum and Science Service.  He excavated over 100 sites in the state of New York and published over 150 professional publications.  He named this type in a professional publication and this type has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium triangular expanding stem projectile point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate with most examples having the blade curve in towards the tip and curving back in a towards the shoulders.  The shoulders are at an upward angle and are rounded where the shoulder and the blade meet.  The stem is expanding.   The base may vary from straight to slightly concave.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Length - 40 to 100 mm (average 45 to 55 mm),  Stem Length - 14 to 22 mm (15 mm average),  Blade Width - 20 to 40 mm (average 22 to25mm), Stem Width - 15 to 25 mm (20 mm average),
