Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a small to medium triangular contracting stem point with an elliptical to flattened cross section  The blade may vary from straight to excurvate.,  The shoulders are primarily horizontal, but may become rounded and weak on re-sharpened examples.  The stem may range from slightly expanding to slightly contracting, but most commonly straight.  The base is slightly convex to slightly concave.  This point has a random flaking pattern. 

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 19 to 64 mm (average 38 mm),  Stem Length - 6 to 12 mm,  Blade Width - 22 to 35 mm,  Stem Width - 7 to 14 mm (10 mm average)

This point is primarily found in New England especially along the Merrimack River drainage.  This point may be found into eastern Pennsylvania and into New Jersey.

Additional Comments:

This point has many of the overlapping characteristics of the Stanly point.  Dincauze (1976) feels that this may represent the same technology as the Stanly point, but with a further northern distribution.  Other local points have similar characteristics such as the Merrimack point.  Perino (1969) feels that worn out Neville points could be difficult to distinguish from Merrimack type points.
