Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a broad medium to large contracting stem point with a flattened cross section.  The blade is primarily excurvate, but may take on a recurvate shape on re-sharpened examples.  The shoulders are pronounced and generally have an upward slope.  Some examples may have an almost horizontal shoulder.  The stem is short and contracting.  The base may vary from pointed or rounded (most common) to convex.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Additional Comments:

This type is similar, and difficult to distinguish from the Keons-Crispin and the Snook Hill points. It has been proposed, and is commonly used now, to use the name Lehigh / Koens Crispin point to describe these points. This has been done because the most distinguishable feature between these two points are the type of material used (Kinsey, 1972). These two points have been separated for this webpage, but should be considered as one.

This point overlaps Savannah River points in time. There are two variants of the Savannah River point; Cattle Run (Gier, 1996) and Island Swamp (McAvoy and McAvoy, 1997) which may be difficult to distinguish from this type (W10).
