Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a large to very large broad triangular stemmed point with an
elliptical cross section. The blade is broad and ranges from
straight to slightly excurvate. Most examples have left hand
beveling, but occasionally may have right hand beveling both leaving a
serrated edge. Shoulders enter at a 57 degree angle from the long axis
forming a barbed shoulder. The stem is straight with a slightly
convex base with basal / hafting region grinding is present. This
point has an oblique flaking pattern. Commonly has a white to pale
yellow patina.

Length - 73 to 139 mm (average 92 mm), Blade Width -
48to 78 mm (average 59 mm), Basal Concavity - 1 to 8 mm, Thickness - 7 to 11 mm (average
10 mm)

This point was reported in northern Belize and into Oaxaca Mexico.
Has been reported into Venezuela and northern South America.
Additional Comments:
These points are similar to Sawmill points, but
tend to be larger, broader, and thicker than commonly seen on the Sawmill
point. The Sawmill point has an expanding stem while these point have
a straight stem. Another similar point is the El Inga point which has
a contracting stem and lacks the beveling, serrated blade, and oblique
flaking.

At the Ladyville site radiocarbon dating produced
a date of 3610 +/- 60 and 3610 +/- 360. At the Lowe site radiocarbon
dating produced a date of 3810 +/- 90
