Kelly is a distinguished archaeologist who has worked with the Center of Archaeological Research, University of Texas with Dr. Thomas Hester.  He conducted research into the pre-ceramic projectile points of Belize.  This type was defined in a professional publication.  Due to the limited number of examples and need for further research, this is considered a provisional type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a large broad triangular stemmed point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is broad and ranges from straight to slightly excurvate.  Most examples have left hand beveling, but occasionally may have right hand beveling both leaving a serrated edge. Shoulders enter at a 57 degree angle from the long axis forming a barbed shoulder.  The stem ranges from slightly expanding to slightly contracting with a convex base.  Basal / hafting region grinding is present.  This point has an oblique flaking pattern.  Commonly has a white to pale yellow patina.

It has been suggested that these may be Lowe points that have been re-worked.  Further research needs to be conducted on this type.

This point was reported in northern Belize and into Oaxaca Mexico.  May have same distribution as the Lowe point which has been reported into Venezuela and northern South America.
