Additional Comments:

Ishi was considered last of the Yana (Yahi ) people based on his language. Research on projectile points show that the points he made were Wintu points and not Yana points which lead many to believe that he was at least one half Wintu (MS Shackley, 2000).

Baumhoff identified points from the Yana territory based on excavations of Kingsley Cave (1955) and Payne Cave (1957). He identified small Desert type points he called Redding Complex points (commonly associated with the Winitu culture from the same region), and contracting stem points he called Shasta Complex point which are now considered part of the Gunther Barbed complex.
