Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small to medium triangular contracting stem with an elliptical cross section. The blade is primarily excurvate, but may vary to straight on smaller examples. The shoulders are at an upward angle and rounded. The stem is short, broad, and contracting. The base varies from convex to straight bases. This point has a random flaking pattern.

Ishi was considered last of the Yana (Yahi ) people based on his language. Research on projectile points show that the points he made were Wintu points and not Yana points which lead many to believe that he was at least one half Wintu (MS Shackley, 2000).
Baumhoff identified points from the Yana territory based on excavations of Kingsley Cave (1955) and Payne Cave (1957). He identified small Desert type points he called Redding Complex points (commonly associated with the Winitu culture from the same region), and contracting stem points he called Shasta Complex point which are now considered part of the Gunther Barbed complex.
