Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a small to medium triangular stemmed point with a flattened to elliptical cross section.  The blade varies from slightly excurvate to straight.  There is a single notch on one or both blades.  Parallel notches enter the blade just above the shoulders.  Examples that have the notch enter at the corner of the shoulder would be the Shoulder Notch type.  The shoulders are most commonly slightly barbed, but may range to horizontal.  The stem varies form slightly contracting to slightly expanding.  This point has a random flaking pattern.    

Size Measurements:
  Total Length - 16 to 51 mm,  Stem Length - 3 to 6 mm, Blade Width - 10 to21 mm,  Stem Width - 3 to 5 mm

This point is primarily associated with the coastal regions of the Portland Basin and down the Oregon Coastal region to the  Umpqua River in Douglas County, Oregon.  This point is also found in the lower Columbia River Valley.

This point is similar to the larger older Contra Costa point found in California. 

This type has been found at many professionally excavated sites including the  Umpqua-Eden (35DO83), Douglas County, Oregon and The Duck Lake site (45CL6), Oregon
, but has not been discussed as a specific type.

This type was listed in Overstreet's Price Guide and has many collector type references.  Even though this type has been pictures in many professional excavation reports, this type has not been discussed as a specific type and this name is currently only used by collector's.  This is considered a collector type.
