Peske was an archaeologist and anthropologist who studied the archaeology of Michigan before moving to Wisconsin and focusing on the Mississippi Oneota Culture.  This type was identified in his study and temporal placement of projectile points of Michigan based on surface finds.  This type has been studied by many professionals and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a broad medium to large stemmed triangular point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is broad with and excurvate to almost straight.  The shoulders vary from having an upward angle to horizontal.  The stem is broad and square with a straight to slightly concave base and slightly rounded basal corners.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 60 to 135 mm,  Stem Length - 16 to 20 mm,  Blade Width - 25 to 47 mm,   Stem Width - 20 to 28 mm,  Thickness - 7 to 12 mm
Commonly Utilized Material:
The Satchell Complex is known for it's primary used of argillite (graywacke).
Additional Comments:

These points were originally placed in a Paleo / Early Archaic placement with a suggested date of 7,000 to 4,000 B.C.  Since most of the Satchell artifacts are from surface sites, chronology is bases mainly on similarities between Satchell points and such Plano point types as Scottsbluff, Eden and Hell Gap (Keynon, 1985).  Many disagreed noting that this was a continuation of the "Broad Blade" complexes of the Middle Archaic period .  However, radiocarbon dating from the  Pinegrove Cemetery Site and the Fletcher Site have provided temporal placement as a Late Archaic complex (Emerson et al., 2012).

This point is primarily found in the Saginaw Valley of Michigan and into the surrounding regions of Michigan, northeastern Indiana, Northwestern Ohio, and southern Ontario.
