Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium triangular point with an elliptical cross section. The blade is primarily straight to excurvate, but may also be straight. Parallel notches are U-Shaped and are placed high on the
blade. The shoulders are horizontal with an expanded stem and a convex
base.
This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements: Total Length - 30 to
72 mm (average 35 to 50 mm), Stem Length - 14 to 28 mm,
Blade Width - 14 to 30 mm, Neck Width - 11 to 26 mm, Stem
Width - 18 to 33 mm, Thickness - 4 to 8 mm (based on similar Sudden Shelter point)

This point is primarily found in western Colorado. This is a
variant of the Sudden Shelter point and may have the same distribution.

Point Validity: Provisional Type
Des Planques is an archaeologist and on the Board of Trustees for the
Missouri Archaeological Society. This type was defined in his masters
thesis on the San Luis valley of Colorado. This type has no other
professional references that were located. This is considered a
provisional type.
