Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium auriculate lanceolate point with an elliptical cross
section. The blade is excurvate with the blade curving in towards
the tip, becoming widest at the mid-point, and curving back in towards
the base. Shallow notches are place in the side of the preform
forming a weak shoulder at an upward angle and an expanding base.
The base is concave with basal thinning. The auricles range from
rounded to square, This point is manufactured using primarily
percussion flaking with little pressure flaking used on all edges and
ears forming a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements: Length - 36 to 54 mm, Stem Length - 9 to 15 mm, Blade Width -
16 to 22 mm, Basal Width - 17 to 23 mm, Neck
Width - 15 to 19 mm, Notch Width - 9 to 11 mm, Notch Depth - .5 to
3 mm, Basal Concavity - 3 to 6 mm (***based on small sample size***)

This point was reported at the La Playa site in northern Sonora, Mexico
and it has been suggested that it may be found into southern Arizona,
but the full distribution is not known.
