Ames is a distinguished anthropologist and professor emeritus for the Department of Anthropology at  Boise State University.  Green is an anthropologist and professor at Idaho State University.  This type was named in a professional publication and has many processional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small to medium triangular expanding stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate with shoulders that may vary from horizontal to having an upward angle.  The stem is expanding with a concave base giving this point an eared appearance.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

This is not the same type as the Windust component which was identified at the Hatwai site. This is a smaller eared point that appears to have been produced for a smaller diameter shaft. It has been argued that this may represent a transition from the atlatl to a arrow form. However, it is much older than is generally accepted for the appearance of the arrow in the western United States.

This points are primarily associated with cultures from the Plateau regions of Canada and the United States which borders the Plains Regions of Canada, the Snake River Plains of Idaho, the Great Basin of Idaho and Oregon and up to the coastal regions of the Northwest.
