Cambron is a distinguished avocational archaeologist that did extensive work in Alabama and the Tennessee River valley.  This point was named in a personally published book.  This point has been referred to in numerous professional publications and is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large (2.10 to 3.60 inches) expanding stemmed point with a flattened cross section.  The blade may vary from excurvate to straight and is commonly finely serrated.  The blade is usually beveled on each blade of both faces.  The tip may range from acute to acuminate.  The shoulders are weak to absent and at an upward angle which leaves a broad hafting region.  This point may range from a shallow wide side notch with an expanding stem.  The base is primarily straight.  Basal  grinding on the hafting region is present on this point as well as basal thinning.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length - 53 to 90 mm (67 mm average), Stem Length - 11 to 25 mm (16 mm average),  Blade Width - 20 to 26 mm (23 mm average),  Stem Width - 20 to 28 mm (25 mm average) at base and 16 to 24 mm ( 21 mm average) at shoulders, Thickness - 8 to 10 mm

This point is not known to be fluted, however, Cambron (1967) describes one example that was fluted from a prepared fluting platform.
