Michael Spence is a distinguished anthropologist who retired Professor Emeritus from the Department of Anthropology, University of Western Ontario. He conducted extensive research in Mexico and Ontario. This type was identified in his publication on cultures of Mexico.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small triangular side notch point with a thin elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate.  Notches enter the preform low on the blade forming a shoulder that is horizontal to having a slight upward angle.  The stem is expanded with a convex base and rounded basal corners giving the base a "rocker" appearance.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Length - 20 to 25 mm (average 24 mm),  Blade Width - 10 to 15 mm (average 13 mm), Thickness - 3 to 5 mm (average 4 mm)

This point is similar to the Cruz de la Boca side Notch, but only smaller (Spence, 1971).
