Carlson is a distinguished anthropologist and professor for the Department of Anthropology, University of Washington. Carlson has conducted extensive studies into the archaeology of Canada.  This point was identified in a professional publication. Currently only two examples have been recovered from the southwestern Yukon ice patches.  More research is needed on this type. This is considered a provisional type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large diamond point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade ranges from almost straight to excurvate.  The shoulders are absent with a contracting stem and a base that varies from steeply convex to pointed.  This point has a random flaking pattern. 
Size Measurements:

Length - 29 to 110 mm (average 52 to 70 mm),  Blade Width - 13 to 43 mm (average 23 to 30 mm),  Width/Length Ratio: 0.26 to 0.77 mm

This point was reported at Duke Point and several other sites sites in the Puget Sound.  May be found throughout southwestern British Columbia and into northwestern Washington.  Full distribution not known.

Carlson (2011) reports dates of 5,420 at Helen Point, SFu 1968 excavations reported 16 examples found in levels dating between 3,950 +/- 250 and 3,980 +/- 130 B.P. Duke Point dating 4,130 +/- 100 B.P. and at DeRt-2 dating between 4,000-3,500 B.P.
