Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a broad medium to large stemmed point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade may vary between slightly excurvate to slightly incurvate.  Some examples have a recurvate blade, flaring out at the shoulders.  The blade is commonly asymmetrical with one blade being straighter than the other blade.  The shoulders are at an upward slope and commonly asymmetrical.  The stem is straight with a straight to slightly convex base.  The stem is commonly thick and has beveling on both edges of both faces with crude basal thinning..  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length - 40 to 77 mm,  Stem Length - 7 to 14 mm (average 11 mm),  Width - 34 to 52 mm, Stem Width - 9 to 20 mm (average 17 mm),  Thickness - 10 to 13 mm

This point was named Cotton Bridge by Ralph Allen in 1989, but since that time the name has been combined and now it is most commonly written Cottonbridge. This may represent a variant of the Abbey type. This type has the same distribution and has many of the same characteristics. This type may be distinguished from the Abbey type by the straight to excurvate blade and the convex to rounded basal edge while the Abbey type commonly has a recurvate blade and a straight basal edge (Granger and Granger, 2013).
