Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium long narrow stemmed point with a median ridge cross section.  The blade is recurvate, curving in at the tip with parallel edges and flaring back out at the shoulders.  The tip is broad and blunted, or may be mucronate.  The shoulders are slightly barbed, but may vary to horizontal.  The stem is short and straight to slightly expanding.  The base is straight.  Collateral flaking pattern is commonly seen on this point.

This point is often confused with the Will's Cove Point found from the Piedmont and coastal plains of southern Virginia and northern North Carolina. The Will's Cove has a triangular shape with the tip slightly curving in from the blade. The Cornelius point has more of a lanceolate shape with parallel edges and a broader tip.
