Stephenson and Ferguson (1963) felt that this type was a variant of the Bare Island type with the difference being that this type has an expanding stem while the Bare Island has a straight stem. They also noted a similarity to the Orient type. Age Details:
LeeDecker and Koldehoff (1991) suggest that this is a variant of the Halifax / Vernon and place this as a coeval giving a date of 3,000 - 2,000 B.C. Steponaitis (1986) suggest a newer date of 2,000 - 1,700 B.C. Most people place this in the Late Archaic period except for the State of Virginia which places this point as a Middle Archaic period point.
