Justice is a distinguished archaeologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University.  This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest.  There are currently few professional references to this type, but that may be due to the limited distribution and number of examples.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small to medium triangular point with a flattened to elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily recurvate, curving in at the tip and flaring out at the shoulders edge.  Fine serrations are commonly seen on the blade.  The shoulders may vary from barbed to horizontal.  Long flaring barbed are most notable for this type.  The stem is contracting and may vary from short to long.  The base is convex to pointed.  This point is usually well made with fine workmanship and a random chevron flaking pattern.

This point is primarily found on the coastal Channel Islands.  It has been proposed that these points made it to the mainland and may be found along the coastal areas of Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
