Crook is an avocational archaeologist from Texas who has conducted extensive investigations along the Trinity River in Texas.  Harris is a highly respected avocational archaeologist who conducted extensive investigations along the Trinity River valley and the Red River Valley.  He participated in numerous professional excavations and publications.  This type was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium triangular stemmed point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade may vary from excurvate to straight.  The shoulders prominent and may range from slightly barbed to horizontal.  The stem is long and primarily straight, some examples may have a slightly contracting stem.  The stem commonly has a rectangular appearance.  The stem is long in reference to the blade.  The base is most commonly straight, but may be slightly convex.  Many examples have basal grinding making the stem smooth, but commonly lacks thinning which gives the stem the wedge shape.  The workmanship on this point is commonly crude.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

This point is primarily found on the terraces of the upper Trinity River Basin of Texas.  The frequency decreases toward northwestern Texas and into the Red River valley.  This point may be found into south-central Oklahoma with decreased frequency.
