Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a medium triangular bifurcated point with a flattened to elliptical cross section.  The blade may vary from excurvate to straight.  Re-sharpened examples may have a recurvate blade.  The shoulders are primarily slightly barbed, but may range to horizontal.  The stem is expanding with pronounced lobes.  The basal ears are commonly squared.  Basal grinding may be seen on this point.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 28 to 65 mm (30 to 35 mm average),  Stem Length - 8 to 15 mm,  Blade Width - 25 to 30 mm (average 30 mm),  Stem Width - 18 to 28 mm,  Neck Width - 16 to 24 mm (average 20 mm)

This point is primarily found in Susquehanna River Valley.  This is a common point through-out the middle Potomac drainage and the Delaware River valley.

This point was re-named to Susquehanna Valley to avoid confusion with the Susquehanna Broad Spear (stemmed) point (Hranicky, 2011).  This point is not associated with the Late Archaic Susquehanna point or with the Susquehanna Soapstone Culture.

This type is similar to the Adams County variant, but differs in this type has "squarish" basal lobes while the Adam County variant has rounded basal lobes.
