Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a
small triangular side notched point with an elliptical cross section. The blade is primarily excurvate. Parallel U
shaped notches are lower on the blade forming a horizontal shoulder and an expanding stem. Basal and hafting region grinding is present on this type. The base may vary from straight to slightly concave. This point has a random flaking pattern.

This point is primarily found in southeastern North Dakota and into South Dakota and Minnesota. This type has been reported into southern
Manitoba.

Michlovic and Running (2005) note that one of the most characteristic aspects of thee point is the small size. These points came from the early Archaic component of the site and have many of the same
characteristics of other early Archaic type points (Simonsen, Gowen, Mummy Cave, ect.) however, their size is comparable to Prairie Side Notch type points.
