Additional Comments:
Thought to be a northwestern California variant of the Humboldt point (Justice, 2002).
These points have been found with and confused with Albion Head points and preforms. These points are thicker and larger with a deep concave compared to shallow notched Albion Head points and preforms (Justice, 2002).
This point is considered to be a variant of the Humboldt point. The Humboldt type has a Great Basin distribution while this point has a central and coastal California distribution. It has been suggested that the Mendocino Concave and the Humboldt may represent the same type.

Distribution Comments:
This point is primarily found in the northern coastal regions of California (red). This point is considered a regional variant, or possibly the same type, of the Humboldt point which has a Great Basin distribution (yellow)
