Justice is a distinguished archaeologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University.  This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest.  There are currently few professional references to this type, but that may be due to the limited distribution and number of examples.  This is considered a valid type.
Albion Head Side Notch
AKA: Mendocino Side Notch (Soule, 1975)

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium triangular side notch point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily excurvate.  Shallow U-shaped notches enter the blade forming a shoulder that is at an upward angle.  The stem is expanding.  The base may range from slightly concave to concave.   The basal ears may range from squared to rounded.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length - 26 to 65 mm,  Stem Length - 7 to 11 mm,  Blade Width - 16 to 29 mm,  Neck Width - 10 to 21 mm,  Stem Width - 15 to 28 mm,  Thickness - 5 to 10 mm

This point was originally named Mendocino Side Notch by William E. Soule for site Men-584 Mendocino County, California, but was re-named by Noel Justice in 2002 to avoid duplication in nomenclature and due to the overuse of the Mendocino name for projectile points found in northern coastal ranges of California (Justice, 2002).
