Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a broad medium triangular basal notch point with an elliptical
cross section. The blade is broad and primarily excurvate, but may
range to straight or slightly incurvate. The shoulders are barbed,
commonly extending to the base of the point. The stem is
contracting with a convex or rounded base. This point has a random
flaking pattern
Size Measurements: Length - 30 to 77 mm (average 43 to 58
mm), Width - 21 to 50 mm (average 32 to 41 mm)

This point was reported at multiple site on Victoria Island, the San
Juan Islands, southwestern British Columbia and northwestern Washington.

Point Validity: Provisional Type
Carlson is a distinguished anthropologist and professor for the Department
of Anthropology, University of Washington. Carlson has conducted extensive
studies into the archaeology of Canada. This point was identified in a
professional publication. Currently only two examples have been recovered
from the southwestern Yukon ice patches. More research is needed on
this type. This is
considered a provisional type.

Age Details:
Carlson (2011) notes that this type was first identified in the Mayne Phase,
but was more prevalent in the Marpole phase. At the Pender site
radiocarbon dates were 3,720 +/- 240 B.P., at Georgeson Point I dates of
2,820 +/- 100, and at Dionisio Point dates of 1,800 B.P. At Cadboro
Bay these points were dated between 1,800 and 1,600 B.P. (Keddie, 2011)
