Intrusive Mound Corner Notch

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium corner notch point that is triangular to pentagonal in shape.  The cross section is primarily flattened, but rarely be elliptical.  The blade may range from excurvate to an angular tip with the sides of the blade being parallel.  The stem is expanding.  The base is commonly straight, to may be slightly concaved.  Basal thinning and grinding is usually present.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 30 to 55 mm (39 mm average), Stem Length - 6 to 9 mm (7 mm average),  Blade Width - 15 to 24 mm (18 mm average),  Neck Width - 9 to 19 mm,  Stem Width at Base - 13 to 24 mm (15 mm average), Thickness - 3 to 5 mm

This point is commonly mistaken for a Jacks Reef Corner Notch, but this point is a corner notched point associated to the Intrusive Mound culture.

A similar point, Raccoon Creek, is associated with the Intrusive Mound culture as well, but that point is a side notched point while this is a corner notched point.
