Roberta Wingerson is a professional archaeologist and president of Cultural Resource Survey, Inc.  She is the founder of the Museum and Laboratory for Archaeology of Westchester County.  This point was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.
Hunter Brook Triangle

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to small (3/4 to 1 1/4 inches) equilateral (same height as width) triangle with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily straight, but may range from slightly excurvate to slightly incurvate.  The base is straight to slightly convex.  Basal thinning and grinding is present on this point.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Length - 19 to 32 mm,  Width - 19 to 33 mm

Additional Comments:

Found within the distribution of this point, there are three triangles that overlap chronologically and morphologically; Squibnocket Triangle, Beekman Triangle, and the Hunter Brook triangle.  The Squibnocket Triangle has a lack of any basal thinning or basal grinding.  The Beekman Triangle lacks basal thinning, but has basal grinding present.  The Hunter Brook Triangle has both basal thinning and basal grinding (W10).

Age Details:
Hunter Brook points at the Rock site (Louis Brennan) had a radiocarbon date of 5135 +/- 155 B.C.E.  However, Wingerson and Wingerson ( 1976 ) feel that this type is older than is represented by this date.  At the Hunter Brook site, These points were found in levels below levels containing Beekman Triangle points (Wingerson and Wingerson, 1976).
