Funk was a renowned Anthropologist who conducted extensive studies and excavations in the New England area.  He was appointed to New York State Archaeologist and worked in the New York State Museum as a research associate.  This point was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is a valid type.


Beekman Triangle

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small equilateral (same height as width) triangle with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily straight, but may range from slightly excurvate to slightly incurvate.  The base is straight to slightly convex.  Basal grinding is present on this point.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Length and Width - 15 to 25 mm,  Thickness - 3 to 7 mm

Quartz, quartzite, cherts and jasper
Additional Comments:

Found within the distribution of this point, there are three triangles that overlap chronologically and morphologically; Squibnocket Triangle, Beekman Triangle, and the Hunter Brook Triangle.  The Squibnocket Triangle has a lack of any basal thinning or basal grinding.  The Beekman Triangle lacks basal thinning, but has basal grinding present.  The Hunter Brook Triangle has both basal thinning and basal grinding (W10).
