Kneberg was a prominent anthropologist and professor at the University of Tennessee.  She is most recognized for her excavations through-out the Tennessee River Valley.  This type was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small (averaging 1.5 inches) triangular contracting stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily excurvate but may vary to almost straight.  The shoulders are weak to absent and may be horizontal to an upward angle.  The stem is short and contracting with a straight to convex base.  This point has a random flaking pattern.  Many of the examples of this type are crudely made. 
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 30 to 42 mm, Stem Length - 8 to 14 mm,  Blade Width - 15 to 28 mm,  Thickness - 7 to 10 mm (***based on small sample size***)

Points at type site were originally called Rudimentary Stemmed. Per Cambron (1969), this point was the dominate point at the Camp Creek site on the French Broad River which is part of the Tennessee River headwaters.
