Sellards was a paleontologist who became interested in the fossil remains of the Berclair Terrace in Bee County Texas.  He conducted many excavations and became influential in Texas archaeology.  Evans was a geologist from the University of  Texas who conducted studies into the Berclair Terrace with Sellards.  This type was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large expanding stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is most commonly excurvate, curving at the tip and having parallel sides.  Some examples have had a straight blade.  The shoulders are weak to absent and at an upward angle.  The stem ranges from straight to slightly expanding.  The base can range from concave to straight.  The flaking pattern may vary from  random to parallel oblique.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 25 to 95 mm (average 50 to 65 mm),  Stem Length - 10 to 20 mm,  Blade Width - 15 to 25 mm (average 20 mm).  Stem Width - 12 to 18 mm.

This point has been discussed many times in professional literature, but as pointed out by Turner and Hester (1985), there is a debate over the dates and typological research is needed to define this type. Kelley (1983) feels that this type falls within the normal variation, and has tentatively included this type into the Victoria type.

This point is primarily found in the Pecos region and into southern and central Texas.  This point may be found into southern Oklahoma with decreased frequency.
