Justice is a distinguished anthropologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University.  This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest.  There are currently few professional references to this type.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small triangular corner notched point with a flattened cross section.  The blade may vary from straight to excurvate.   Deep diagonal notches enter the blade from the corners of the point forming shoulders that are barbed with a narrow neck.  Notches may remain a straight diagonal line, or may curve upwards towards the tip at the end of the notch.  The stem is expanding with a convex base.  Some examples have a straight base.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length - 15 to 45 mm,  Stem Length - 5 to 8 mm,  Blade Width - 12 to 19 mm,  Neck Width -4 to 7 mm,  Basal Width - 12 to 17 mm,  Thickness - 2 to 4 mm

Bonito points are commonly found with these points. These points are usually found in the older occupations while the Bonito points are generally found in the newer occupations (Justice, 2002).

This point is primarily found  in the Chaco Canyon region.  These points are found in areas associated with the Mogollon and Mimbres areas.  These points may be fund into the lower Rio Grande area with decreased frequency.  These points may be found into the Dolores River Valley and into the Salt River and Gila River Valley.
