San Jose Cluster type points are triangular with a blade that is typically heavily resharpened and serrated with serrations being the most diagnostic characteristic of this cluster. The stem ranges from straight to expanding and are highly variable. The base ranges from shallow to deep concavity commonly forming flaring basal auricles or ears.

The San Jose cluster overlap the age and association of the Bajada Cluster. Late Bajada Cluster points and early San Jose Cluster points share many of the same technological characteristics.

This cluster is primarily associated with the Arroyo Cuervo region of New Mexico which has the longest occupational sequence.
