This is a small to large triangular point with a flattened elliptical cross section. The blade may vary from slightly excurvate to straight. The base is concave with basal
corners that may range from sharp to rounded. This point has a random flaking pattern.

This point is primarily found in piedmont along the border region of North Carolina and Virginia,

This type was named for the Occaneechee Culture which used this knife, but these knifes were not found in Occaneechee Village site in Orange County North Carolina excavated by Coe. It
is generally felt that triangular points and knifes were used by many cultures at the end of the Woodland period and into the Historic period and that they are not diagnostic of any specific culture.
