Haw River Lanceolate

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin medium to large lanceolate point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate with the tip curving in and curving back in towards the base.  The base has a center notch and rounded basal corners.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Length - 70 to 120 mm,  Blade Width - 22 to 50 mm,  Basal Concavity - 3 to 5 mm (***based on small sample size***).

This point is thought to have evolved into the later Alamance point.

This point are primarily found through out the Piedmont and coastal regions of North Carolina, Virginia, and into South Carolina.  This point has been reported into the Tennessee River Basin, Ohio River Valley and into New York with decreased frequency.
