Color:  Tahkandit Chert ranges from a light gray to light yellow or grayish brown with quartz vugs or darker gray blobs commonly present.  Small spects formed by fossils are present.

Tahkandit Chert s associated with the Tahkandit Formation of Alaska and Yukon occurring as lenses and discontinuous beds.  Exposures occur in the northern Ogilvie Mountains along the north bank of the Tatonduk River, the southwest bank of the Yukon River above the mouth of the Nation River, south side of Sheep Mountain, and near Mount Burgess.
